The Bera group research revolves around Organometallic Chemistry – Ligand design incorporating desired functionalities, synthesis of new metal complexes, studying fundamental chemistry and applications of these compounds in different areas. A large part of our activity is dedicated to the catalytic evaluation for reactions that are synthetically challenging and directly address chemical aspects of renewable energy and sustainability. Understanding mechanism of a catalytic reaction is a key undertaking in our program. Further, we seek to extend the use of these compounds in biology and material chemistry.
In addition to a modern synthetic organometallic laboratory, we have access to a host of experimental techniques. Computational tools are often exploited to support mechanistic proposal. We strive to gain deeper understanding of important chemical reactions through a unifying approach utilizing different tools and techniques.
