Prof. Janakarajan Ramkumar is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, specializing in micro-nano manufacturing and novel product and process development. Since joining the institute in 2003, his research contributions have spans across over 300 publications and the guidance of numerous doctoral theses advancing manufacturing technologies, sustainable engineering, and healthcare innovations. His work has been recognized with awards including the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award, the National Design Award in Mechanical Engineering, and the Gopal Das Bhandari Memorial Distinguished Teacher Award.
An elite academic initiative run under the aegis of the Office of Outreach and Advancement (OOA) at IIT Kanpur. Designed for high-achieving students in grades 7 through 12, this intensive hybrid program transitions young minds from technology consumers into creators and architects. Under professional mentorship, participants spend two weeks diving into advanced AI/ML pathways, practical data-backed applications, and design thinking, culminating in a two-day residency on the IIT Kanpur campus where they present research-grade portfolios to expert panels.
