Rotary Oscillation Control : Bluff
-body flow control (drag reduction) is studied via the behaviour of flow past a
circular cylinder at high Reynolds number, where the cylinder executes rotary
oscillation. It has been established experimentally that significant drag
reduction is possible at very high Reynolds number by rotary oscillation, the
present approach is via numerical simulation of Navier-Stokes equation to
understand the mechanism that causes drag reduction. We claim that the drag
reudction is by two main mechanism- both possible with 2D flows, as explained
in the following presentation, for a M. Tech. thesis defence, by Mr. T.V.K.
