Computational turbulence
is the subject that deals with computations of turbulent flows. The subject
includes the computations using Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) as well as turbulence
model such as Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and Large Eddy
Simulations (LES).
This course aims at
exposing the participants to the fundamentals of turbulent flow. The course is
also designed to provide the participants with the knowledge of computations of
turbulent flow. The course also aims to highlight the importance and excitement
of computational research on this topic by providing the participants glimpses
of numerical facilities at IITK Kanpur. There will be practical sessions on the
use of commercial fluid mechanics software in which the participants will be
shown demonstration to solve real life turbulent flow problems.
