· The paper presented at the 1st
Annual Materials Science and Engineering Technical Paper Session
held in Birmingham, Al, on Sep. 29-30, 1987, was selected the best in the category of ‘Optical and Magnetic
Properties of Materials’ and was awarded a first
prize.
· The student paper entitled Infrared Piezobirefringence – An Efficient
Technique for the Characterization of Defects in Semiconductors won the outstanding research paper award in the Ph.D.
category in the technical paper contest organized by the ‘Engineering Graduate
Student Council’ at LSU, Baton Rouge, held in Jan 1988.
· Recipient of the Kaiser Fellowship for outstanding research for
the year 1986-87 from the College of Engineering at LSU, Baton Rouge.

the Secondary and the Higher Secondary Examinations under the West Bengal Board

of merit in Electrical Engineering at the Bachelor of Engineering Examination,
