Applications of RP processes:

Some important applicatoins are following-

#INJECTION MOULDING-

The accuracy of FDM hardware and stability of materials allow the models to be used as masters for prototype injection moulds, producing multiple accurate shapes directly from CAD models.

#FIT FORM AND FUNCTION APPLICATIONS-

A common frustration in production assembly occurs when components do not fit together or when they do not find into the housing planned for them. The FDM hardware produces prototypes to check fit, form and some functions at less cost and in less time than conventional processes.

#INVESTMENT CASTING-

Investment castings are used in medical field to make replacement limbs and joints (typically machined from solid blcks or from net castings of Ti). The traditional methods for investment casting are time consuming.

Hence both fields need a way to speed the process of modelling, design revision and moulding.

Moreover high cost of labour for replacement joints makes prototyping in a less time extremely desirable.

The mould can be liquified at a temperature of only 150 degree fahrenhite and ons investment casting wax can be milled, drilled, carved, sawed and tapped.

#CONCEPTUAL MODELLING-

The speed and accuracy of the FDM hardware allows engineers to produce a new part each time the product undergoes a revision.
