Guidelines for BTP

(Based on DUGC meeting minutes dated 5.9.2001 and 24.1.2002, and departmental meeting minutes dated 4.10.2001 and 17.9.2002)

Each B.Tech. project (BTP) in the I and II semesters of an academic year will be monitored and evaluated by a committee of three members (four members in case there are two faculty members guiding the project) to be called as ‘BTP Committee’. These members are: 1) project supervisor(s) (will also act as the Convenor of the committee), (2) a faculty member having expertise broadly in the area of the project, and (3) one of the representatives of DUGC. The panel of DUGC representatives will be formed by Convenor, DUGC in consultation with HOD. The `expert' faculty members are to be recommended by the respective BTP supervisors. Each BTP committee will be responsible for a mid-semester evaluation in the second semester, besides the end-semester evaluation in both semesters. It will also be responsible for taking a decision on the grades to be awarded at the end of each semester. The grades are to be awarded by consensus. However, the views of Convenor of the BTP Committee will prevail whenever a committee is unable to arrive at a consensus.

Each BTP Committee will be responsible for recommending during project evaluation at the end of the second semester whether the project should be a candidate for the Best BTP Award. This decision will be taken by consensus. However, the views of majority will prevail in the absence of a consensus. The projects recommended by various BTP Committees will be considered by a Best BTP Evaluation Committee for choosing winner(s) of the award. This committee will have five members and will be constituted by Head of Department in consultation with Convenor, DUGC. The performances in all previous evaluations of the recommended project entries will be made available to this committee. Further, this committee will be free to short-list the recommended entries for presentation.
