Dr. Balaji Prakash did.his Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1991-96) and then moved to Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology, Dortmund, Germany for post-doctoral studies (1997-2002). He joined the faculty of BSBE department in November, 2002. He received the Wellcome Trust International Senior Research Fellowship in 2004.
In our laboratory we work on a specific set of GTP binding proteins, that we call the HAS-GTPases and Ser/Thr Kinases of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. In order to understand the Structure-function relationships in these molecules, we combine Bioinformatics, X-ray crystallography and Biochemistry. For details, please see "current research".
