Test of English as a Functional Language

Date and time: Sat, 11 April, 11:00 a.m. onwards
Venue: L10, L12

Result of this test will be announced at this link by the end of this week.

• Anybody above 17 years of age and below 70 years can appear in the test.
• Result of this test will 'confidentially' tell you (without divulging your result to others)
  • whether your English background is adequate for operational purposes,
  • if not, then what is the extent of the inadequacy and what action on your part can remedy it, and
  • in particular, to what extent EPP course, as it is conducted at IITK, will be useful to you.
• Steps to take the test:
  • Turn up at the registration desk outside L10/L12 with your identity card. (Students/Staff members should bring institute identity card.)
  • Your minimal particulars will be entered in our system and you will be given an answersheet with a three-digit Code No. appearing at the top.
  • Remember this Code No. and keep it secret. With this answersheet, you take a seat at L10/L12 as directed.
  • There will be a 5-10 minutes briefing on what are you expected to do in the test.
  • The actual test is of 30 minutes.
  • Time will be strictly maintained during the test.
  • After the test, you submit your answersheet to one of the EPP team members and quickly leave the venue. (We do not rule out multiple rounds - up to 1:00 pm!)
  • Around the end of the week, visit the site

    for the test result.
  • Your grade in the scale A/B/C/D/E/F will be uploaded there against your 'secret' Code No. along with the meaning and implication of these grades.
  • After that, it will be up to you to trust the evaluation (or not) and take appropriate steps (or not) for your own benefit according to your priority.
