AIR STANDARD DUAL CYCLE
Figures 30.1 (a) and (b) shows the working principles of a Dual cycle. In the dual cycle, the energy addition is accomplished in two stages: Part of the energy is added at constant volume and part of the energy is added at constant pressure. The remaining processes are similar to those of the Otto cycle and the Diesel cycle. The efficiency of the cycle can be estimated in the following way
Energy added

(30.1) |
Energy rejected

(30.2) |

(30.3) |
or

(30.4) |
The efficiency of the cycle can be expressed in terms of the following ratios
Compression ratio, |
(30.5) |
Cut-off ratio, |
(30.6) |
Expansion ratio, |
(30.7) |
Constant volume pressure ratio, |
