Introductory Interaction Programs (IIP)
What is IIP? | |
To give the first introduction of the Physics teaching methods using simple Physics experiments developed by us, I conduct 6-hours workshops with Physics teachers. The optimum number is 30-60 though I have conducted workshops for more than 100 teachers also. In first session I emphasise the need to so for experiment based on classroom teaching and prepare the teachers mentally to change. their existing chalk and talk techniques. In the next phase I demonstrate a sample of about 20 to 25 Physics experiments at various levels (class 6 to class 12). With each demonstrative experiment I explain when it can be used and what Physics can be explained using that particular experiments. I normally takes 3 hours to show and discuss these experiments. The last session is question answer session where teachers ask various questions on Physics and I discuss with them to enhance the understanding. The whole workshop takes about 6 hours with a lunch break and one or two tea breaks. The list of workshops conducted so far is given below. |

How to arrange IIP | |||
Any group involved in Science education in school can organize an IIP anywhere in India. The organizer will have to arrange the following:
(a) | Venue: | Seating arrangement for the participants; two tables of size about 3ft × 5 ft; electrical power.
Optional: | LCD projector with a video camera projecting the experiments on to a screen, if the number of participants exceeds 80.
(b) | Selection of teachers of the locality and invite them. Arrangement of transport for the participant to the venue and back if needed.
(c) | Arrangement for LUNCH and TEA for the participants and other involved in the workshop.
