• Current Interests

  The present research has been emphasized along the Himalayan Frontal Zone with following aims:

  • Identification of active faults in NW and NE Himalaya.

  • Their precise mapping and recognition of related active geomorphic features using remote sensing and ground penetrating radar to understand their dynamics and kinematics.

  • Paleoseismic investigation by trenching various active faults to know the number of large magnitude paleoearthquakes, recurrence interval, slip rate, rate of horizontal shortening and vertical slip along the respective faults.

  • Recent and paleotsunami study in Andaman & Nicobar Island.

  • To built up long term data base of large paleoseismic event.

  • To work out the SHA on the basis of above information.

  • Active faults along Northwestern Himalayan foothill zone: Implications to the great Himalayan earthquakes sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science, New Delhi.

  • DSM generation using high altitude satellite photos for identification and mapping of active tectonic landforms related to paleoearthquake in Kumaon Himalaya sponsored by MHRD, New Delhi.

  • Active fault mapping and paleoseismic investigations in Kacha region. Gujarat. Consultancy project supported by OYO International from main project on Seismic Microzonation of Gandhidham, Kacha supported by GSDMA, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

  • Active Tectonic investigation along Northwestern Himalayan foothill zone, sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi (Seismicity program now with Ministry of Earth Sciences).

  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Survey to identify archaeological remnants around Sunderwala Mahal and Sunderwala Burj (Humayun’s Tomb), Delhi sponsored by Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), New Delhi.

  • Active Fault Survey in area around Sanchor-Thara, Rajasthan-Gujarat: CAIRN Barmer-Salaya Pipeline (BSPL) active fault studies for BSPL Project (Barmer to Salaya Pipeline) sponsored by L&T, Faridabad.

  • Active Fault Survey in area around Sanchor-Diodar-Palnpur-Abu Road, Rajasthan-Gujarat: CAIRN Barmer-Salaya Pipeline (BSPL) sponsored by L&T, Faridabad.

  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Survey to estimate the depth of railway bridge foundation on the Kichha River (Bareilly-Lalku section), Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh sponsored by Northern Railways, UP.

  • Paleoseismological investigations in Andaman Islands (A&N islands) India. Sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

  • Active fault mapping along South Wagad and Gedi faults in eastern part of Kacha, Gujarat sponsored by GSDMA, Gujarat, Gandhinagar (ongoing).

  • Active Tectonic investigations around South-Middle Andaman and Car Nicobar Islands, A&N Islands. Sponsored by INCOIS, Hyderabad, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India (ongoing).
