Rajesh Kumar

Assistant Professor of Linguistics

 

 

After his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English and American Literature from Samastipur College (a unit of Mithila University), he joined the Department of Linguistics at the University of Delhi. This is where his career in Linguistics begins. He earned his M.A. (1997) and M.Phil. (1999) degrees in Linguistics from the University of Delhi. He joined the Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998 as a graduate student. He lived in Urbana for four years before moving to the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated from the University of Illinois with A.M. (2001) and Ph.D. (2003) in Linguistics. For his doctoral dissertation research, he worked on the syntax of negation and the licensing of negative polarity items in Hindi.  He joined the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in June 2006.
