Dr. Sharma has had 20 years of career to date. He has worked with TELCO (Pune) (now TATA MOTORS INDIA) during 1980-82, and TVS-Suzuki Ltd during 1988-89; and is a Ph.D. in management from I.I.M., Ahmedabad, INDIA. Now he is a Professor at the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, IIT Kanpur. To date he has written over 55 papers in international/national journals and one book on MRP systems. He has guided 38 M.Tech. theses at IME department, IIT KANPUR. He has developed over 8 software products.

He has won several international awards : notable among them are the Archimedes Award, Life Fellow, Life Time Achievement Award given by the International Biographical Centre, St. Thomas Place, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB7, 4GG, ENGLAND; Web : http://www.internationalbiographicalcentre.com/; and the American Medal of Honor (received medal number 9 out of 100) and the 2006 & 2008 Man of the Year award given by the by American Biographical Institute, Inc., 5126 Bur Oak Circle, PO Box 31226, North Carolina, 27622, USA. He was adjudged “Outstanding Management Researcher” by Association of Indian Management Scholars at AIMS-7 conference held at IIM Bangalore, India.
