Abstract

Microscopic models of driver behaviour are extremely important in the field of traffic sciences. Yet is seen that the literature in this area is devoid of microscopic models, which can incorporate the various interactions, which a driver face while driving in a traffic stream. Hence, in this thesis, an attempt is made to develop a general microscopic model of driver behaviour, which can within a single framework handle the variety of interactions, which a driver faces. The thesis also presents results from a preliminary version of such a general model developed as a part of this work. The results suggest that the framework and the model (based on the proposed framework) are viable that more work along the lines of this thesis will yield a good general microscopic model of driver behaviour.
