Abstract

This thesis, entitled "Simulation of Rail-Highway Grade Crossing Under Indian Conditions" deals with developing a simulation model for traffic queuing and dissipation at rail-highway grade crossings. The queuing and dissipation modules are unique features of the developed model as they represent the Indian scenario reasonably realistically. The models can different types of vehicles. It gives the delay and queue lengths of the queue at rail-highway grade crossings as its output. It can also provide snapshots of the crossing at various time points, thereby allowing the analyst to view the crossing dynamically. This model after validation can be used to design and plan more efficient rail-highway grade crossing for Indian conditions.
