At IIT Kanpur, I have been taking active part in student affairs. I have looked after the Students Placement for two years from June 2002 to July 2004 as Chairman, Students Placement Committee. I was Head of the Counselling Service of the Institute from June 1994 to Dec 1996, Chairman, Council of Wardens (COW) 1983-84, Vice – Chairman of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 1984-85. I was member convener of Department Under Graduate and Post Graduate Committees and incharge for setting up the department academic time table for several years.

As member of “Technical Advisory Committee (Electrical )”, responsible for the distribution of electric power supply on IIT Campus. I have been actively involved in the procurement , testing and maintenance of the power equipment for 33/11/0.4 kV level at IIT Kanpur for more than a decade.

Nominated as University Grants Commission (UGC) expert committee member for the review of their Special Assistance Program of DRS level at the Department of High Voltage Engineering, IISc, Bangalore, March 2000 and for their COSIST Program, Feb. 2001. Also member of the screening committee as an expert for EHV composite insulator project supported by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology 2004.

I have been nominated as member of several National Board of Accreditation (NBA) Committees of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

I have been member of several Selection /PhD evaluation committees at Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, Anna University Madras , Banaras Hindu University Institute of Technology Varanasi, Ministry of Science and Technology, Union Public Service Commission New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission Indore, UP Public Service Commission Allahabad etc.
