REACHING IITK 

 

By Air:

New Delhi – Lucknow (Amausi): Air India   |    Jet Airways   |    Indigo   |    Go Air   etc.

New Delhi – Kanpur (Chakeri): Air India

Visitors to IIT Kanpur get off at Lucknow Airport, and take a taxi from the airport taxi stand to IIT Kanpur. It takes around 2 hours to reach IIT Kanpur. Taxis from IIT campus for pick up at the airport charge around Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2000 (depending on vehicle type and AC/nonAC).

Flights between Delhi - Lucknow are frequent between 6 am - 9 pm. Flights Mumbai - Lucknow and Kolkata - Lucknow also have direct flights. There is one flight of Air India between Delhi - Kanpur. The taxi charges from Kanpur airport to IIT Kanpur are approximately Rs. 1000/-.

By Rail:

Kanpur is well connected by rail. The Delhi - Kanpur connection ranges from 5 hour to 10 hours travel depending on the type of trains. It is well connected by Shatabdi and Rajdhani express.

Trains Recommended:
* Shramshakti: Train no. 12452 at 23:50
* Radjdhani: They are evening trains and are 5 in number
* Shatabdi Express: Train no.12004 at 6:15, Train no. 12034 at 15:55

IIT Kanpur is about 16 kms from the Kanpur Central Railway Station. Taxis and Three-wheelers are available from the Cantonment side (Platform No. 1 side) of the Kanpur Central Railway Station. The rates are around Rs. 250/- to 350/- for a taxi and Rs. 200/- for a Three-wheeler auto rickshaw.

Visitors are expected to reach the Guest House ("Visitors' Hostel") in the IIT-campus for accommodation.

Reaching Kanpur by Road

Kanpur is connected on NH2 running between Amritsar and Kolkata and connecting cities like Delhi, Agra, Allahabad, Patna. It is about 480 km from Delhi through this highway. Kanpur is also connected to Lucknow on NH25 and is about 91 km from Lucknow. Kanpur is connected to Delhi (440 Km) through another parallel highway NH81 and passing through Ghaziabad, Aligarh.
