Welcome! Welcome to my official homepage!
I am Tatsat Banerjee. Currently, I am a final year student of Master of
Technology course at the
Chemical Engineering of
IIT Kanpur. My
recent curriculum vitae is available
here (Please note that it is subject to change and may be out-of-date
I was born and brought up at Kolkata (yes, at "the city of joy"). I have
spent spent tweenty one wonderful years there, almost continuously, before
shifting to Kanpur. I have successfully completed my school education from
Hindu School, Kolkata. - the institutuion from where the modern (aka
European) education system was started its journey in India.
spending long time (1999 to 2010, to be precise) there, I joined the
Department of Chemical Engineering of
University (JU) in 2010 as a bachelor student. Subsequently,
in the summers of 2012 and 2013, I was at IIT Kanpur under two
SURGE programs, to
ponder over the directed self-assembly of nanoparticles and three dimentional
photonic crystals, under the guidance of
Sivakumar. For my final year bachelor degree project, I have worked on
photocatalytic water splitting, under the mentorship of
Mukherjee. Finally, I have completed my
Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering degree with First Class
Honors, from JU, in 2014.
Broadly speaking, I am interested in applying
principles of nanoscience and chemical engineering in the domain of photonics,
healthcare technology, and energy science (Are you feeling interested? Great! Please have a closer look on

For my MTech thesis project, I am working under the
guidance of Prof. Ashutosh Sharma
and Dr. Sri
Sivakumar. I am currently trying to use upconverting nanoparticles for
fluorescent bioimaging pupose.
Apart from chemical engineering or chemistry, I
find my pleasure in writing, reciting, acting, debating, and in any other
activities that need critical thinking!
