NAVIER-STOKES SOLUTION BY NEW COMPACT SCHEMES FOR INCOMPRESSIBLE FLOW

Solution of Navier-Stokes equation for incompressible flow is reported here using new optimized compact difference schemes. The optimized schemes are very resolution methods where particular attention has been paid to avoid numerical instability introduced by currently used boundary closure techniques. A constrained optimization is performed that maximizes spectral resolution. These new schemes have been used to solve two fluid flow instability problems that are difficult to solve using explicit schemes. The first problem investigates the effect of wind shear past bluff-body and the second problem involves predicting a vortex-induced instability.
