About us

The High Performance Computing Laboratory (HPCL) at the Aerospace Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur was started by Prof. Tapan K Sengupta and ever since has been an active place of research from its inception in 1990. The emphasis of research is on developing high accuracy computing methods to aid in bridging the gap between theoretical and computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Among many achievements, solution of turbulence problem should be viewed as the main goal achieved.

Tapan K. Sengupta , Ph.D. ( Georgia Tech.) has been involved in research and teaching scientific computing for fluid flow and wave phenomenon for more than two decades in India and abroad. His interest is in developing numerical techniques for high accuracy computing and HPC of transitional and turbulent flows, and high resolution schemes for compressible flows and problems of atmospheric sciences. Theoretical fluid mechanics continues to be the area of primary interest.
