Ph.D. Research Scholars
Ashok

Ashok Tripathi

Ph.D. Student (Ongoing, joined in Aug-2020)
EE, IIT Kanpur

His research interests are in high voltage engineering, emphasizing diagnostics and condition monitoring of critical high power electrical equipments/ components. He is currently focusing on mechanical deformations of transformer windings and FRA/SFRA analysis of transformers. Hopefully, the images of electrical discharges under high voltages have motivated him to do sketches. Yeah, he does good sketching.

Darshan

Darshan Prakash Borthakur

Ph.D. Student (Ongoing, joined in Aug-2020)
EE, IIT Kanpur

His research interests are targetting current interruption in DC micro-grid, and performance analysis of Hybrid DC circuit breakers. It also involves studies pertaining to MOVs degradation in DC application. Morevoer, he is keen to find gaseous mixture as an alternatives to SF6. During the moments being away from lab, he plays wonderful Tabla.

M.Tech Students
Umesh

Umesh Yadav

M.Tech (Ongoing, joined in the batch 2019-2021)
EE, IIT Kanpur

He works on modeling of DC electrified railway system. Investigating grounding resistance of track to limit rail potential and varoius affecting parameters such as soil conductacne, weather, traction current etc. on rail potential rise. He has interest in automobile journalism, that probably holded him to work on traction systems and evaluate its performace.

Abhishek

Abhishek Kumar

M.Tech (Ongoing, joined in the batch 2019-2021)
EE, IIT Kanpur

He is working on image processing techniques to detect the physical changes based on captured image features. His interests include detection of faulty insulators in overhead transmission lines. When whole academics was getting into online mode, he mastered himslef in online gaming as well.
