EPSC: Why should one take this course?
Some questions:
Why to register for this course?
"Since my English is anyway very good,
with very little work I will get a reasonably good grade."
Is this a valid answer?
Is this a disadvantage for another student who is joining the course to actually improve his English and has to slog through it?
What if "I" am caught near the bottom and "therefore" F/D?
My advice:
Try to learn and work, do not fear.
From the teacher, expect his time and care, perhaps love and respect; but not mercy and concession.
Grades:
x% A, y% B, z% C, u% D, v% E, w% F.
Here x, y, z, u, v, w are VARIABLES.
x=35, y=50, z=10, ... is a possibility.
w=15, v=25, u=50, ... is also a possibility.
Have an academic attitude.
Do not keep the monster of 'relative grading' hanging over your head.
For EPSC, particularly, we have an ABSOLUTE standard!
As such, grading in IDC603 is (preponderantly) ABSOLUTE.
Look up the grading scheme
and do not plan your strategy.
There may be bonus marks here and there, but do not consider them.
Assignment submission policy:
English assignments: Handwritten.
Each assignment separately stapled.
If five assignments are due on the same day, they are to be submitted in five different stacks.
On the due date, in class, within first 5 minutes;   or
After first 5 minutes of class on the same day, with a penalty of 10%;   or
In the first 5 minutes of the next class, with a penalty of 5%.
