WHAT'S NEW ?

SWAN IMAGING CHALLENGE 2019

The challenge is to produce a 100 square-degree image of (any part of) the radio sky,
with as much fidelity and as fine an angular-resolution as possible,
using the existing SWAN setup at Gauribidanur.

The available time is about 80 days, more specifically, from 10th March to 31st May 2019.

A set of raw voltage data (16 MHz bandwidth), sampled from at least 6 tiles, from observations made by a few teams (such as by Pavan Uttarkar & the SIT team, as well as by Rahul Kinger) during late 2017 and copies of which are now gathered by Pavan Uttarkar & Yash Bhusare, would be provided, along with software for data reduction at least till estimation of cross-correlation spectra. The latter will have more than one versions, i.e. developed by different students (such as the one already shared by Satyapan Munshi, others will do so soon), for you to choose from.

Of course, you may also feel free to make new observations, and use your own observed data for the purpose,
as well as develop your own software tools even for initial data reduction.
Suitable doodle-linked schedules, relevant for two-weeks at a time, will allow you to book your observing slots in advance.
