I am working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. I did my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Electrical Department of IIT Delhi in 2022 and M. Tech in Power Electronics and Power Systems from the Electrical Department of IIT Bombay in 2014.
My Ph.D. research focused on exchanging power from HVDC transmission lines using high-power modular converters. My research interests include HVDC and MVDC transmission systems, Modular Multi-Level Converters, the application of Power Electronics in Power Systems, planning and operation of bulk power systems, renewable energy integration, Power Electronics-dominated Grid, Grid-Forming Converter control, and the provision of virtual inertia to the power grid using power converters.
From 2014 to 2016, I worked as a Design Engineer with the HVDC Department of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., New Delhi, India, where I was involved with the first MMC-based HVDC project in India. During this time, I contributed to feasibility studies, planning, and design studies of various HVDC projects.
From 2016 to 2024, I worked at the National Load Dispatch Centre (Grid Controller of India, New Delhi), where I served as a Manager in the System Operation Department. In this role, I focused on renewable integration studies and analysis of various grid events in the Indian power grid. I was in the team responsible for the integration of critical grid infrastructure (such as STATCOMS, HVDC, RE plants, Transmission lines, etc.) by deriving insights from pan-India power system studies.
