I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Management Sciences (DoMS) IIT Kanpur, India, and a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) at the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra. Before joining IIT Kanpur, I was based at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University.
My research focuses on the economics of energy and climate change, particularly looking at the bright side of the energy transition: the role of renewable energy in decarbonisation and its application to decarbonize the hard-to-abate sectors along with economic growth potential.

The aim of this course is to orient students toward the current climate change debate and energy transition and to help them understand some of the basic empirical economics that underpin climate change issues. In the course, we introduce the class to some of the wider issues of climate change like adaptation, mitigation, industrial decarbonisation, energy transition, climate finance and the role of media and politics in shaping climate communications.

This course provides broad coverage of what sustainable development means for businesses and why they should care. The course covers an introduction to sustainable development, standards and strategies for corporate sustainability, the role of institutions, regulations and policy frameworks and other topics. Through case studies and problem-based learning, students apply concepts to develop practical solutions for sustainable business practices.

This course will introduce students to economics and policy perspective to industrial decarbonisation and equip them with social science perspective in general. Technology is central to low-emission growth, it alone can't achieve development goals. Course takes a sectoral deep dive into the transition pathways. Using case-based approach the course covers the social science perspective of decarbonisation, the role of public policy and civil society.

A two-semester, 36 credit part of the MBA curriculum at DoMS, IIT Kanpur, is a unique student industry engagement program where students work with an organization to solve real world business problems, under the guidance of a project mentor from the institute and the organization.
