Starting in 1986, developed at IIT Kanpur the most modern experimental facilities in the country for research in earthquake engineering:

• Ambient and forced vibration surveys on existing structures. An eccentric mass shaker fabricated in-house for shaking of full-scale structures: a first of its kind in the country.

• Force and displacement control cyclic experimental facilities.
