Puspendu joined our team in 2022 as a Research Establishment Officer (REO). Before joining IIT Kanpur as an REO, Puspendu was in University of Tokyo and Jadavpur University as Post-doctoral researchers. Puspendu's research interest includes large scale tectonics and experimental rock deformation with analogue, synthetic and natural samples.

Neetu joined our team in 2023 as a SERB sponsored TARE Fellow. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Avadh Girls’ Degree College, Lucknow. Her currect research interest is to understand the role of heat treatment and thermo-mechanical rock properties in stone tool manufacturing in Ancient India.

Dr. Aasif joined our lab in 2025. Prior to joining us, he served as a temporary faculty member at National Institute of Technology Raipur. His research focuses on rock deformation, microstructural characterization, and Engineering Geosciences.

Dr. Chandra Kant joined our laboratory in 2025. He completed his Ph.D. in 2023 and subsequently worked as a Technical Consultant at Aimil India Ltd., followed by a role as Manager – Technical Sales and Support at Complete Instrumentation Solutions Pvt. Ltd. At IIT Kanpur, his research focuses on hydrofracturing, rock deformation, and fracture propagation in geomechanics and subsurface engineering.

Dr. Sikdar is a FARE Fellow in our lab since his PhD. His research focuses on EBSD based microtexture analysis and deformation mechanisms in polycrystalline rocks.

Subhrajyoti, an institute JRF, has joined the research group in 2020 and busy in finishing his PhD coursework.

Rajiv, an institute JRF, has joined the research group in 2021.

Tushar, an institute JRF, has joined the research group in 2021 after converting his MTech program to PhD. Tushar is trying to explore the deformation and metamorphism of Central Indian Tectonic Zone (CITZ)

Sourav is a PhD student in the Department of Design at IIt Kanpur, who tries to understand the dynamics, design-architechture, performance-strategies and overall networking of mega-festivals, like Durga Puja in Kolkata, that involves multiple and multifacated human components. Prof. Satyaki Roy of the Department of Design is his primary supervisor.

Rajiv, formerly a CSIR JRF and now a PMRF, has joined my research group in 2022. Rajiv is trying to explore the physical properties of some of the Himalayan Active Faults in and around the Garhwal Himalaya

Nihal, an institute JRF, has joined the research group in 2024.

Rajesh, with a master's in applied geology from NIT Durgapur (2024), joined my research group in 2025 as a doctoral student.

Pramod, with an integrated MSc degree in Applied Geology from the Pondicherry University (2024), joined my research group in 2025 as a doctoral student.

Rahul has been at IIT Kanpur since 2012, starting in the Civil Engineering Department before transitioning to the Department of Earth Sciences in 2014. He manages all the laboratory instruments, paper-work and is often seen zipping around on his new Royal Enfield bike. IN 2023, Rahul received the Staff Metit Award from IIT Kanpur.

Resham, with a background in chemistry, also possesses exceptional talent in graphic design. In the laboratory, he is responsible for preparing and analyzing our samples. Specifically, he oversees the cutting, sectioning, and polishing of our rock samples.
