Pradip Swarnakar is an environmental sociologist specialized in climate change policy, social network analysis, and sustainability transition. He has been a visiting scholar at the Climate Justice Research Centre, University of Technology Sydney, Australia, the Department of Environmental Studies, University of San Francisco, USA, the Department of Social Research, University of Helsinki, Finland, and the Department of Urban and Environmental Sociology, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH-UFZ, Germany. He was a recipient of the Fulbright-Nehru Academic & Professional Excellence Award (Lecturing & Research), UTS Distinguished Visiting Scholar grant, Koneen Säätiö senior researcher grant, and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft bilateral grant. His work has been published in the British Journal of Sociology, Current Sociology, Socius, Environmental Science and Policy, Economic and Political Weekly Policy, Energy Research and Social Science, and Environmental Communication. He is co-editor of the book Bottom-up Approaches in Governance and Adaptation for Sustainable Development: Case Studies from India and Bangladesh (SAGE Publications, 2017). He is a board member of Research Committee on Environment and Society (RC24), the International Sociological Association and a transnational research group, “Climate Change Policy Network (COMPON)". He is the in-charge of the Climate and Energy Policy Research Lab (CEPRL).
