This is by far the most detailed map I have seen of Kanpur city. Since
it is now very difficult to obtain I have taken the liberty of putting
it online. It is over thirty years old, but still amazingly accurate
and useful. The Survey of India deserves praise for its accuracy and
professionalism.
The map was scanned into several overlapping sections so as to keep
things manageable. The size of each file is still between 600 - 900 Kb
with jpg compression, but that should not be a problem within the IIT
LAN where this map is primarily meant to be read. Thanks to Subhasis
Sahoo and Anup Kumar for having worked so hard to convert the map into
electronic form.
Unfortunately, one is too busy to clean up, straighten, etc. the
scanned images. If you can help with that, please go ahead. If you want
the scanned images in their original pdf format, please let me know.
