The
Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur will host a National Workshop on String
Theory from December 8 - 21, 2003. This workshop, like
others which have preceded it, will be held with the objective of enhancing
research in string theory and providing an environment leading to collaborations
between scientists working in this area. The workshop will be co-sponsored
by several Indian research institutes, and is expected to be attended by
string theorists from all the national Research Institutes as well as some
Universities.
The workshop is expected to involve review of the current frontline and active areas of research in string theory, leading on to focussed discussion sessions. There will also be some short seminars, mainly by younger participants on their research work. Participation is by invitation only and is extended to all national string theorists.
