Reaching Kanpur
Nearest international airport is Delhi (DEL). Nearest airport is Lucknow (LKO), which is 100 km or about 2-2.5 hours drive from the IIT campus. It is only an hour-long flight from Delhi to Lucknow. There is a transfer facility available from the international to the domestic airport at Delhi. At Lucknow airport, there will be pick-up vehicles from the campus.
Airlines that fly to Lucknow are Jetair (www.jetairways.com), JetLite (www.jetlite.com), Indian (www.indian-airlines.nic.in) and Air India (www.airindia.com). All airlines together, there are about 7-9 flights per day depending on the day of the week.
It is advisable to keep a gap of at least 3 hours between the international and domestic flights.
Nearest railway station is Kanpur Central (CNB) which is 16 km or about 30-45 minutes drive from the campus. All information about trains is available at www.indianrail.gov.in. Tickets can be purchased (at most 2 months in advance) using credit card at www.irctc.co.in.
A good option in the morning from New Delhi (NDLS) railway station to Kanpur, is to take the 2004 LKO Swran Shatabdi leaving at 06:15, and arriving at 11:20. For an overnight train, the best option is 2452 Shram Shkti Exp leaving at 23:35 and arriving at 06:00.
Reaching IIT from Kanpur Central Railway Station
The campus is located on the Delhi-Kolkata Grand Trunk Road, about 16 Kms from Kanpur Central Railway Station. Taxi (Rs. 180-200) and auto (Rs. 90-100) services are available from the station (exit from Platform no. 1) on hire.
The venue of the lectures is the Outreach Auditorium, near the Visitors' Hostel (VH). All accommodation is arranged at the VH.
