Aeromodelling Club

The idea of flying an object heavier then air, might once have sounded as strange, as to us today when someone tells us that we can take a plunge into the deep ocean, and come out without getting wet at all. Howsoever, men's quest to win and achieve the unachievable had made him do wonders.We here at Aeromodelling Club IIT Kanpur try to write our own history.

Astronomy Club

The club is a platform for people to nurture their interest in astronomy. The main aim of the club is to promote amateur astronomy and popularise in the institute.The club has about 20 members who regularly meet fortnightly to discuss the activities of the club.We organize night long Star Parties for the campus residents twice a month. They are usually held at the terrace of the Student's Activity Centre (SAC). Apart from this we organize frequent lectures and talks by students,faculty and other renowned institutions like IUCAA, IIA etc.All interested people are most welcome to join our club.

BRaIN

The function of BRaIN is to create a hub of students from all traits who will use the knowledge of their own fields to get a better understanding of the emerging inter disciplinary sciences like cognitive neuroscience, bio informatics and computational biology. We want BRaIN- Biological Research and Innovation Network to channelize this opportunity as a hobby group

Business Club

The Business Club aims to inform, inspire and encourage students about business and entrepreneurship. The club enhances one's acquaintance with the business world with the help of Focus groups : Strategy group, FINIIT group(finance enthusiast of IIT Kanpur) and the Newsletter, and by holding regular lectures, conducting workshops and organizing various competitions & some strategic games, which project students to real market situations.

Electronics Club

Electronics Club is for all those electronic maniacs who have the courage to accept the challenges in the field of hardware, who have the capabilities to turn imagination to reality and who have the patience to cope up with the surprises in offing for one in circuits and hardware functioning. Here we aim at bringing out the “technological best” in you. The chief aim of the club is to bring the students out of their rooms to expose them to the challenges awaiting them in the field of circuit design and hardware analysis.With this aim, we conduct lecture series, workshops and also assign projects to students.

Gliding Club

The gliding and soaring centre at IITK was established in 1966 under the subsidised glider flying scheme of the government of India .This is one of the biggest glider centre in India and is comparable to the largest centre currently at Pune. This centre was set up at premier institute like IITK with a primary objective to increase the motivation of students and it was expected that they would get involved in the actual design and development of gliders.

HAM Hobby Group

Amateur radio. You've heard of it. Your probably know that amateur radio operators are also called hams. Every minute of every hour of every day, 365 days a year, radio amateurs all over the world communicate with each other. The method, by which communication is accomplished, is as interesting as the people you get to meet are. We at HAM Group try to learn more about HAM and radio devices.

Programming Club

Are you that guy who cannot sleep till he has removed the last bug from his code? Are you the g33k who your friends turn to when faced with an “unsolvable” problem? Does tackling fiendishly deceptive problems gets your adrenaline going? Do you get excited on seeing a login screen without its password? Or Do you simply like programming for fun? If you have answered “Yes” to any of the above, then Programming Club is the place for you! Our primary goal is to develop and sustain a healthy programming culture in the institute and also provide a platform for the sharing of knowledge among like minded people. With this motive in mind, we hold lectures and workshops and float projects.

Robocon

Robocon, as some might be knowing, is the most prestigious robotics competition in South-East Asia. On top of that, it is among one of the select few competitions in which the team is not just a group of individuals, but the visage of the institute they come from. IIT Kanpur Robocon team have been one of among the top performers at the previous Robocon competitions.

Robotics Club

The Robotics Club of IIT Kanpur is a fraternity, not just a group but a faction of such students whose passions dwell in beholding wires and metal beget a machine that has a brain of its own. It's here, that seeds of lecturing are sown by those experienced and erudite, nurtured by the interested and novice , pruned by minute yet unprecedented errors and harvested in competitions all over India. The Club offers indispensible guidance, workshops and tutorials along with tools, equipments, components and workspace.

Rubik's Cube Club

Originally called the "Magic Cube" (when discovered in 1974), the puzzle soon became a household favourite. The puzzle was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp and the rest is what we call as history. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have sold worldwide making it the world's top-selling puzzle game.We at the Rubik's Cube Hobby Group aim to expose the IITK junta to this puzzle sensation.

SAE,IIT KANPUR

Society of Automotive Engineers, IIT Kanpur, a collegiate chapter of SAE India was established in Jan 2011 with the collective effort of a group of students who had strong urge to complement the theoretical knowledge imparted in classroom, with emphasis on the practical aspects of engineering. Their idea to develop a automotive culture revolutionized the institute and SAE IIT Kanpur started with a initial strength of over 150 student members. One of the most important qualities of SAE IIT Kanpur is its diversity. It has students of almost all departments of the institute. It believes that the each and every student of the institute can be a member of such chapter irrespective of their department. It provides a platform to students to share and increase their engineering know-how through increased interaction between students at all levels, group activity, lectures, workshops, brainstorming sessions and many institute level competitions
