Special Informations about NSEP

Eligibility :
The candidate must not have passed class XII examination. He/She must be
an Indian Citizen

Course
: General Higher Secondary (10+2) level of any Board.

Language of the question
paper : The student can offer to have the paper in any one
of the following languages : English/Hindi/Tamil/Telugu/Gujarati/Bangla.
The minimum enrolment for any language paper to be supplied is 300. In
case of lesser number English paper will be supplied.

Evaluation and identification
of merit .

On the basis of Part A evaluation
: Centrewise top 10% are identified. Those getting marks above
a certain cutoff and not coming in the above category are also identified,
and put in `A/C' category.

Part B of these top 10% and A/C category is evaluated, separately. On the
basis of part A plus part B marks of top 10% - First National top 1% and
then State top 1% are identified.

Top 200 list is then compiled with National top 1% and the top merit of
A/C category. These qualify for the Indian National
Physics Olympiad (NSEP INPhO) examination.
This examination willbe held on January 29 and 30, 2001, for which TA/DA
willbe paid to the candidates.

Top 35 of INPhO Examination will receive 3 weeks intensive training at
the Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education, Mumbai in May-June 2001. [Candidate
must be an Indian citizen].

Top five selected after the training will represent India at the International
Physics Olympiad.
IPhO-2001 will be held
in Antalya, Turkey from June 28 - July 6 2001.
