1. Flight Laboratory of IIT Kanpur:
The only facility in Asia to have an operational air strip with five operational aircrafts. The facility in 2000 had only one operational aircraft, from which four more aircrafts were augmented to enhance the teaching and research associated with this lab. Students from all over India, including other IITs, Madras Institute of Technology, Punjab Engineering College, and 15+ private colleges visit this facility as part of their core courses.
Other departments of the institute like Civil Engineering use the aircrafts for environmental and geospatial research.
2. Unmanned Aerial Systems Laboratory of IIT Kanpur:
The first facility in India, where Low Altitude Long Endurance (LALE) UAV has been designed, developed, and augmented for defense and civilian usages. The facility includes machining options, fabrication systems, propulsion test rigs, auto-pilot gain tunings, etc.
