Welcome to my homepage !
I am a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) at IIT Kanpur. My work focuses on understanding and improving the behaviour of soils and other geomaterials, with applications in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. Over the years, I have explored topics such as unsaturated soils, environmental geotechnology, ground improvement techniques, GIS, geosynthetics, and the design of engineered cover systems, combining laboratory experiments, centrifuge studies, field studies, and numerical modelling. Before joining IIT Kanpur, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France, and held research positions at Tongji University in China and the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany. I have published more than 120 peer-reviewed research articles and have received several awards, including the Institution of Engineers (India) Young Engineers Award, the Talented Young Scientist Award from China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from VIT University, along with multiple best paper and teaching awards. I also serve on the ISSMGE TC-106 (Unsaturated Soils) committee and am part of the editorial boards of the Indian Geotechnical Journal and the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering.
