Experience

  • February 2009 - June 2015 : Assistant Professor, June 2015-Present : Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Thrust of work: Development and analysis of reconstruction schemes for nonlinear shape tomography, development of suitable numerical solutions of forward problems in subsurface microwave/optical/impedance tomography, early cancer detection with fluorescence diffusion optical tomography.

  • Postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, from January 2007 to January 2009.

Thrust of work: Proposing a novel level-set (implicit radial basis function) based reconstruction approach to electromagnetic shape-tomography. In addition co-offered postgraduate course on "Computational inverse problems in elastodynamics".

  • Associated with Optical Tomography Laboratory, Department of Instrumentation, I.I.Sc., Bangalore from Jan 2005 to Dec 2006.

Thrust of work: Development and analysis of explicit representation shape-based reconstruction approaches for subsurface electromagnetic tomography. Gave a talk-Series fromAug '05 to Nov '05, on "Nonlinear optimization and electromagnetic tomography".

  • Post-doctoral research associate at ETRO Department, IRIS Research Group, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, from August 2001 to November 2004. Worked on Concerted Research Action (GOA) project on "Numerical issues in tomographic shallow subsurface imaging"

Thrust of work: Hessian based post-reconstruction convergence analysis of Tikhonov regularized Gauss-Newton approaches for ill-posed (almost rank-deficient) reconstruction problems of subsurface electromagnetic tomography, with the objective of needing to know which of the obtained iterates are closer to the actual unknown solution, by quantifying convergence behaviour in objective-function and parameter spaces.
