Integrated innovative model bridge design and testing competition in the instruction of Structural Analysis (CE 222) as a pedagogy tool to enhance the learning experience. Students designed and fabricated reduced scaled models of bridge either using spaghetti or timber sticks using suitable adhesive. Students had to predict the failure load and compete for the most efficient bridge structure when their bridges were tested to failure. These hand-on project motivated students to engineering creativity by providing an opportunity to experience first-hand the challenges of engineering projects.
