Professor Shalabh is well-known in the field of statistics and data science and is currently serving as a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Lucknow with Post-doctoral from the University of Pittsburgh in the USA (BOYSCAST fellowship)  and the University of Munich in Germany (Humboldt fellowship), where he developed his expertise in statistical methodologies and data analysis. He has a career that spans over 27 years of teaching and research experience.  Throughout his tenure at IIT Kanpur, Professor Shalabh has held important administrative positions. Currently serving as the Dean of Academic Affairs, he has been a member of the Board of Governors, Chairman, and Vice Chairman of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, and has worked in numerous institute-level committees. Notably, his leadership as the Organizing Chairman of JEE (Advanced) in 2018 transformed the pen-and-paper-based examination into a computer-based examination, revolutionizing the examination landscape in India. Professor Shalabh has published over 120 research papers and four books. One of his books has been downloaded more than 5.4 millions times. He's won awards like the National Award for eGovernance, Professor CR Rao National Award in Statistics, Mahalanobis Memorial Medal, among others. He has been the associate editor of esteemed journals like the Journal of Multivariate Analysis. Professor Shalabh's impact on societal welfare and eGovernance is clear through his research projects in using the power of artificial intelligence and data science to analyze grievances, thereby empowering citizens across India. His collaborative projects with governmental bodies such as the Ministry of Defense and the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances underscore his research for societal good. As a member of various national-level committees, Professor Shalabh continues to shape policies and initiatives in education and governance, Through his multifaceted contributions, Professor Shalabh exemplifies the ethos of academic excellence, leadership, and service to society.
