Better Solutions For Your Research

We are team of engineers and scientists working in the feild of micro-engineering

About Us

Tangible Impacts to the Institute and the department.

  • Development of micro/nano technologies and products through a heavily iterative design and fabrication process.
  • State of the art fabrication facility for realization of micro/nano systems. This would generate a lot of institutes good will and also monetary resources and would increase the visibility of IIT-Kanpur in the global arena.
  • Good track record of training students in the domain of Micro/Nano systems. The institute can eventually think of establishing NEMS/MEMS engineering and a design/ prototyping centre for excellence.
  • Good track record of getting funded research projects from industrial and national agencies like Boeing, BIRAC, DBT, DST, ICMR, SERB, ADA, VESKI (Australia), INAE etc. and creating many technologies.
  • The laboratory is currently housed in the first floor of NET building and has a covered area of almost 3500 sq. ft.

The Microsystems laboratory has been commissioned within the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the year 2009-2010 by the financial support provided by the institute CARE program and through extramural funding that has been obtained by the Principle Investigator Dr. Shantanu Bhattacharya.

Vision of the Laboratory
Our Long-term vision is to establish a working micro-engineering centre for excellence in functional micro/nano-scale prototypes. The goal is to promote basic research and training in domains of fabrication of micro/nano scale systems, developing sensor modules and other broad range of applications of micro/nano fabricated material systems, generate resources for the institute through grant proposals, sale of patented technologies and developing educational modules in micro/nano technologies. The bigger objective of this centre is to develop the 21st century engineering and technical task force who would take up the technological challenges of the future decades.
