Conclusions
Cold flow visualization reveals an increase in the jet width with swirl addition.
With increase in swirl number, the ambient air entrainment increases and as a result, the jet width also increases.
The visible flame length
decreases with
MFR
for buoyancy dominant regime (
MFR
= 3 – 30)
remains almost constant for momentum dominant regime (
MFR
= 30 – 80)
The visible flame length decreases when swirl is increased.
Increased swirl results in well mixed zones near burner exit and flame stabilization near burner exit.
Blowout limit extends with swirl number.
