Experimental Procedure
Obtain the water spray from a vertically mounted air-blast atomizer.
With properly aligned optical elements, obtain a thin LASER sheet.
It is vertical and passes through spray center for cone angle.
It is horizontal and passes through the spray at a distance sufficiently away from the primary breakup zone.
Set up the CCD camera and obtain images of spray;
Keep camera parallel to the plane of LASER sheet for cone angle.
Keep camera at an angle to the LASER sheet for patternation.
Analyze individual images and obtain averaged data for cone angle, SPI, and SUI.
Perform experiments for different gas to liquid mass ratio (
GLR=
).
