Aluminum Shear Yielding
Device
(AL-SYD) for Seismic Energy Dissipation |
|
|
|
A
significant amount of both experimental and analytical research led to
the development of Al-SYD as an inexpensive but extremely effective
means of dissipating seismic energy. A method to design the device to
suit the characteristics of the structure has been developed, which is
based on a rather fundamental work on establishing a criteria for
predicting inelastic buckling of shear panels of soft annealed alloys of
aluminum which are characterized with significant strain hardening. |
